About the Role

In anticipation of a contract award, COE is seeking an experienced, motivated UI/UX Digital Designer to provide consultation to our federal client. This is primarily a remote work assignment, with occasional travel to local client site(s) within the Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan areas.

Responsibilities

This role will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Conduct design activities aimed at bringing together user needs, business needs, and technical capabilities to create a cohesive and intuitive end user experience.
  • Plan and facilitate human-centered design research activities (e.g., usability testing, interviews, ideation sessions, workshops) on user needs to inform product direction and validate design decisions.
  • Create research plans detailing project goals and strategies for engaging users.
  • Synthesize and report research findings.
  • Adapt design recommendations based on technology restraints, feedback from users, and evolving product goals.
  • Create new features and improve current features to expand the functionality and enhance the visual appeal of website.
  • Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Create and maintain a Design System.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the organization’s process and culture around design.

Experience and Skills

  • Must have prior experience working on Federal projects. Candidates without federal experience will not be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any related field with four plus (4+) years of experience.
  • Ability to lead user research activities (e.g., usability testing, interviews, ideation sessions, workshops) and presenting recommendations based on findings.
  • Expert at designing and presenting mockups and prototypes of varying fidelity.
  • Experience with tools such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, React, Blazor, Azure, Adobe Cloud, or other industry standard tools.
  • Demonstrated success using human-centered design approaches to understand user needs and behavior.
  • Experience building and/or maintaining a Design System.
  • History of ethical and value-based performance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required and ability to obtain, or already possesses, a Public Trust clearance.

Target Salary, Commensurate with Experience: $95k - $165k
